Paint by Numbers....Cook by Colors (part 1)
The way my brain works is that I cook and bake by color. Quantities and type of ingredients are dependent on how the colors come together in a bowl or plate. By letting my right brain pair colors, we have found some very creative combinations that taste amazing and are pleasing to the eye.
Funky Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
Favorite bread recipe
3-4 colorful ingredients from your garden, fridge, or cabinets (see some examples at the bottom of page)
Instructions:
Follow directions from your favorite bread recipe. Fold the colorful ingredients into the dough. Bake as directed. Enjoy! Send us a photo of your unique, colorful masterpieces.
Here are some of my favorite combos to try out.
Kalamata olives (deep violet), Fresh Basil (bright green), pickled red onion (pink)
Cinnamon (auburn), raisins (bay brown), rosemary (forest green), garlic (cream)
Roasted Golden Beets (dark yellow), sharp white cheddar (cream), Chives (green)
Nasturtiums flowers (reds, orange, yellows), garlic (cream), Fresh Parsley (light green) shown in photo above.
